Recent Visits: Late January saw two very enjoyable visits.
The PGA Course at the Belfry entitled: ‘Golf Specific Exercise from 6 to 60+ Years’.
The HSC / GSA Conference for Directors of Sport at the Oxford Belfry where I presented ‘The Role of Physical Competence in the Physical Activity Continuum.
The PGA course was delivered with Michael Dalgleish who had made the arduous journey from Australia to conduct his renowned TGA courses. It was another exciting seminar with a small group of very committed practitioners and we were able to highlight the multi-disciplined approach to performance enhancement and injury prevention from Development to High Performance. Apologies must go to all the delegates who, no doubt, woke up the following day with the realisation that Gluteus activation can have some serious consequences! Our thanks go to the staff at the Belfry for their hospitality and administrative support.
The HSC / GSA Conference is a major event on the IPD calendar which brings together all the Directors of Sport from the private and independent school environment. Charged with the very difficult task of both the health & well being of the total school population and performance enhancement processes, delegates were introduced to the background and delivery of Physical Competence Assessment. It was a privilege to meet with this audience and the visit was greatly enhanced by being able to meet with Gil Stevenson, Chairman of UKSCA. Gil presented a high quality overview on the role of weight-lifting in the movement continuum.
